![]() Interesting., as I already had to exchange 1 failed kit. There was a post that I was scanning on the forums from a user that is having identical issues with the same sticks that I got. Maybe it could be a setting or something else. It has been working fine with 4 1GB Micron chips before so I was thinking In the future, you are best served with OEM machines to stringently follow their QVL for RMA and technical support issues. Is your board past warranty? I believe that the issue is board related and not DRAM related but if you have to use memory that they have on their QVL to get their help with RMA, then there's not much else you can do. Try the memory on their list, see if it works, if it doesn't, then you have a memory controller issue. It's always best to go with the compatibility listing for motherboards such as Intel as Intel is VERY strict with their implementations of hardware. Windows Version Microsoft Windows Vista (6.0) Ultimate Edition Service Pack 1 (Build 6001) ![]() L2 cache (per processor) 2 x 4096 KBytes, 16-way set associative, 64-byte line size L1 Instruction cache (per processor) 4 x 32 KBytes, 8-way set associative, 64-byte line size L1 Data cache (per processor) 4 x 32 KBytes, 8-way set associative, 64-byte line size Instruction sets MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSSE3, EM64T Specification Intel® Core2 Quad CPU 2.40GHz I did contact Intel about this problem, but they didnt really want to help me since Corsair is not on the Compatibility list that they have. It has 4 slots for memory and according to Intel's site for memory compatibility lists a few modules that are 2GB.įrom the manual: "Designed to support up to 8GB of system memory." Do you have the latest BIOS?Īlso, have you tried contacting your motherboard maker? And, does your manual detail if 4 x 2GB is a supported memory configuration?īTW, I did forget to mention previously that I did set the DRAM from 800Mhz to 667Mhz when I was playing with those settings. This is requested at registration and helps us to assist you.īased on what you have posted it seems to be a motherboard or BIOS issue. Please fill in your system specifications into your signature so we can see it in the drop down menu. Intel wont help as this memory is not on their "approved" list.Īll sticks test out fine with Memtest86 and motherboard uses the latest BIOS. The other 1/4 of the time it will load OS just fine and work without problems. If I hit Yes it will show a black screen and do nothing (lock up) if I hit No it will bring up BIOS config and actually show the Maintenance menu. When I plug the last 2 sticks the system recognizes that it has 8GB of ram, however 1/2 the time the PC wont POST (no beeps or anything else)ġ/4 of the time I get a message as I've put the BIOS into maintenance mode and I get an option to hit Y to continue booting and N to go to BIOS and change setting. If I use 2 sticks (doesn't matter which ones) of 2GB ram it works just fine also. Got me 2 4GB kits with CM2X2048-6400C5 memory. I had 4 1GB Micron? (cant remember now) modules. The system been up for over 2 years now and ran without any problems. ![]() I am having a weird issue with this RAM and motherboard. ![]()
